Check Out Louisiana State Parks
Starting October 1, 2024, Iberville Parish residents can explore the natural beauty of our state with their library card. The new Check Out Louisiana State Parks program offers library card holders the ability to check out a day pass to visit any of Louisiana’s state parks or historical sites. - During the initial phase of this program, a limited number of day passes are available at each location of Iberville Parish Library.
- To reserve a day pass, contact or visit an Iberville Parish Library Branch. Our staff can reserve a pass for you. up to 90 days prior to your park visit.
- The day pass must be presented to the park ranger upon entering the park. Day passes will be kept by park staff and will not be returned to the library.
- Day passes allow entry to one vehicle and may only be used once per day, per site, per family.
- Day passes are for day use only. The pass does not allow for overnight stays nor does it offer access to other state park amenities such as cabins or RV lots.
- Day passes are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Current library card holders may check out a state park pass once every six months.
The new program also offers a Geaux Explore backpack containing binoculars, three Louisiana nature guides, Leave no Trace guides, a compass and magnifying glass. Each library branch has one (1) circulating backpack. Backpacks are on a first-come, first-serve basis. When you pick up your reserved day pass, ask one of our staff if the backpack is available for check out as well. Backpacks check out for 7 days and must be returned to the library with the listed contents.
Bluebonnet Swamp Passes
Iberville Parish residents can check out a swamp pass with their library card. During the initial phase of this new program, patrons can call or visit any library location to reserve swamp passes. The pass will be delivered the the patron digitally or may be printed at the library. Swamp passes are only valid for the date reserved to visit the park.
- Each swamp pass provides general admission to one (1) person aged two (2) and older. Children younger than two (2) do not need a pass.
- Swamp passes may only be reserved by individuals aged 18 and older with a current Iberville Parish library card for adults, including the adult, educator, senior citizen, or staff borrower types. Other borrower types are not eligible.
- To reserve a swamp pass, contact or visit an Iberville Parish Library Branch. Our staff can reserve a pass for you. up to 90 days prior to your park visit.
- Four (4) swamp passes can be reserved at a time on one adult library card.
- Passes may be used for general admission programs; however, they cannot be used for programs or camps that require registration.
- Passes do not offer a discount to the gift shop or any registered programs.
- The pass is valid only for the reserved date of the visit.
- Current library card holders may check out a swamp pass once every 90 days (3 months) months.
Open: Tuesday-Saturday 9 am – 5 pm; Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm; Last admission to trails at 4:15 p.m. Site closes, and gate is locked at 5 pm.
2025 Black-out Dates & Holiday Closures for Bluebonnet Swamp: Mondays, January 1, March 8, April 20, July 4, October 10, October 17, and October 24, November 27, and December 25.
